The Baxter family endures as siblings Ashley and Luke struggle with love and faith in a time of turbulence.

To escape fireman Landon Blake's unwavering love, Ashley flees to Paris, only to return home pregnant with another man's baby. Finally at a point where she can admit to her feelings for Landon, a fire nearly claims his life. Deep down however, Ashley knows she can never be the wife he desires. She's lost her faith and buried her heart beneath a rubble of pain. Landon is barely recovered from his injuries when he leaves for New York City to assist at ground zero. While he is gone, Ashley finds her way back to her faith but will Landon return?

Just when Ashley's life seems to be falling into place, Luke's seems to be coming apart. He and his girlfriend Reagan end up in a tempting situation on September 10, 2001 and succumb to their desires. Their guilt increases exponentially when Reagan's father dies in the north Twin Tower the following day. Luke walks away from all that he knows; from all appearances, he may never return to the fold.

This incredible story will have you rejoicing with Ashley as she grows and mourning the tragedy that held a nation and brought its citizens together in grief and love. (Feb., 409 pp., $12.99)
