Book Review

RESTLESS IN THE GRAVE
by Dana Stabenow

Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Mystery

RT Rating

As usual, Stabenow treats readers to a fine variety of nuanced characters in this novel that brings together Kate Shugak and Liam Campbell, stars of her two popular series. The mystery takes a backseat to the characters for most of the book, but intensifies at the end with a gut-wrenching plot turn that some readers will see coming.

Liam Campbell, Alaska State Trooper, hires P.I. Kate Shugak to investigate the plane-crash death of Finn Grant, a wealthy air-service operator. There is suspicion that the plane was sabotaged, and Liam’s pilot wife, who publicly argued with Grant, is one of the many people with motive. Kate goes undercover as a waitress at the local bar, with her half-wolf dog, Mutt, helping out as the bouncer. They’re in several dangerous situations as they discover more about Grant’s activities, his family and his business partners. (MINOTAUR, Feb., 384 pp., $25.99)
