When Tasha Simmons must return home for her mother's funeral after years away, she runs into ex-boyfriend Josh Halvorsen, who's moved back home with his teenage son after a divorce. Still attracted to Josh, in spite of the time they've spent apart, Tasha is nevertheless reluctant to tell him what broke them up and sent her fleeing from their hometown. Return to Emmett's Mill (4), by Kimberly Van Meter, deals with tough emotional issues in a very realistic way. Van Meter really brings her characters to life; their motivations and feelings are dead-on.
