Book Review

by Michael Connelly

Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Suspense

RT Rating

Connelly consistently and steadily provides riveting crime fiction with believable and intense heroes. Best of all, his female characters are getting better all the time. The various lawyer tricks, political maneuvers and police actions — legal and not so — are a delight to read.

Defense lawyer Mickey Haller agrees to work for the prosecution on a special case. Jason Jessup was convicted of the murder of a child 24 years earlier. But DNA evidence throws his conviction into doubt and he’s released from prison for a new trial. Haller’s conditions for the assignment are that his second chair will be his ex-wife, Deputy DA Maggie McPherson, and his half-brother Harry Bosch will be his police investigator. They must pull out the stops to put a killer behind bars before more people die. (LITTLE, BROWN, Oct., 416 pp., $27.99)
