RISKY ENGAGEMENT (3) by Merline Lovelace: A U.S. senator has died under mysterious circumstances, highly classified information is missing and the secret Omega agency, under presidential control, sends agents to Mexico to trace the information. Omega is watching the hacienda of Cordell, the lover of the senator who they suspect has the information on a disk. Dr. Nina Grant, brilliant and successful, is vacationing in the area after a breakup. When her car breaks down, she goes to the hacienda for help. Agent Rafe Blackstone has to decide if she is there innocently or part of the conspiracy. The situation heats up as Nina’s room is bugged and the Russian mafia enters the picture. The writing is smooth and sharp, and the characters sympathetic. However, the chemistry between the hero and heroine isn’t as strong as it could be, though this is still a very good read.
