While this novel does not rival —pun intended — Whitney’s first, The Mockingbirds, it is definitely a solid follow-up. Readers will enjoy the character development and the unpredictable plot. Whitney has (hopefully) set herself up for a third book and I can hardly wait!

Back for her senior year, Alex is leading the Mockingbirds. Before the school year begins, Alex is approached with a case. A large prescription drug ring has sprung up at Themis and is attempting to cheat its way through national competitions. Alex must prove to herself and her fellow Mockingbirds that she is fit to lead, find time for her friends and her boyfriend Martin and work on her Juilliard application. When suspicious evidence appears to point the blame at someone Alex trusts, her moral compass is thrown off and she must draw the line between justice and friendship.
