With her father dead, her engagement broken and herself under the care of her greedy guardian, Nicholas Lennox, Rosalind Schuyler disappears.

She does so by disguising herself as a gambling man. After four months of hiding, she runs into riverboat owner Hal Lindsay. Rosalind only met him once and hopes he doesn't recognize her— but he does.

Hal has his own reasons for hating Nicholas and agrees to help Rosalind. She takes a job as a cub pilot on the Cherokee Belle, putting her in close proximity to Hal and their relationship blossoms.

The River Devil is a fast-paced page-turner with many wonderful characters, but Whiteside keeps the focus on Hal and Rosalind. There are many twists in the story, and the added details on riverboats adds another dimension to this very hot romance. Once you start you won't want to stop reading.
