THE ROAD TO BAYOU BRIDGE (4.5) by Liz Talley: Having just left the Navy as a lawyer and planning to relocate to Seattle to practice, Darby Dufrene decides he needs to make a pit stop back home in Louisiana — and finds a marriage license that says he’s married to the girl he loved as a teen, Renny Latioles. But he hasn’t seen Renny since he abandoned her after a drunk-driving accident injured her on the night of the wedding that he doesn’t remember. Talley’s characters have real depth, and her depiction of their emotions seems spot-on in this remarkably well-written and realistic story about the power of forgiveness.
