In this sequel to Wild Sorceress and Besieged Adept, Aetria and Coleni are back. This fast-moving story shows the unbreakable friendship between sisters. The fantastical elements of the story are refreshing, and the magical worlds are much more exciting than just another run-of-the-mill fantasy tale. These two authors have done an excellent job.

Leaving Non-Lands after visiting their reclusive mother, Aetria and Coleni sense the danger that lies in wait. They’ve worked hard to prove that they’re harmless, that their magical powers are not wild sorcery. But they just can’t seem to make others understand.

Coleni has other worries now; as her daughter Yolania’s powers grow, they make her more of a target. Meanwhile Aetria is fighting with her beloved, Val, and everyone else who doubts her claims about the evils of the dragon army. To protect those she loves, Aetria must go against the Council of Magi. She must also follow the voices that tell her she may have to become leader, a job she doesn’t want. (AMBER QUILL, Mar., 301 pp., $16.50)
