Riley Callahan's been infamous since
the day she was born, having a rock star and a model for parents. Now it's her
father's tax problems that are screwing up her life. Max Callahan is currently in
exile because of Eugene Paynter, his former agent, and his shady financial
dealings. Strapped for cash, Riley finds a job shopping for the U.S. Marshall
service. It's her responsibility to shop for those held in protective custody.
She isn't aware that one of the people she's buying for is the infamous Eugene.
And when he dies in custody, suspicion falls on Riley.

U.S. Marshall Charlie Zap has been assigned to discover if Riley's been leaking
information about the program to an array of malcontents. In the right place at
the right time, Charlie gets close to Riley and learns that someone is trying to
kill her. Now he must uncover what Riley knows and make sure that this
fascinating and eccentric woman doesn't wind up dead.

Riley Callahan is a most unique and unconventional heroine. The very talented Ms.
Lane does a great job in building romance between two polar opposites. They learn
not only about each other but themselves as well. (Feb., 384 pp., $5.99)
