Book Review

ROOMIES
by Sara Zarr, Tara Altebrando

Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary Young Adult

RT Rating

Roomies is cute, but too cute for incoming college freshmen. Zarr and Altebrando have created heroines so squeaky clean they’re unrecognizable as high school girls. But a middle school crowd is sure to enjoy the pen-pal style and burgeoning friendship of two roommates, and the theme of gaining independence from home and childhood is a worthy one.

Across the country from one another, two soon-to-be college roommates strike up a surprising friendship. They couldn’t be more different, but Elizabeth and Lauren soon develop the type of bond that emerges between two people who are about to leave behind everything they know.
