When Judi Monroe eavesdrops and learns her fiancé is a criminal, she does what any normal woman would do—she becomes THE RUNAWAY BRIDE (3). Desperate for a place to hide, Judi gets lucky when rancher Thomas Vance mistakes her for the nurse hired to care for his grandmother. Everything seems to be under control until Judi falls for Thomas, who is very vocal about his opinion of liars. Patricia McLinn weakens the story by switching from romance to criminal activity, but locks in reader interest with Judi and Thomas's cat-and-mouse interplay.
