SACRED EVIL
by Heather Graham

Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Mystery, Paranormal

RT Rating

Another installment in the Krewe of Hunters series that introduces the members of an elite squad of feds for whom dealing with the paranormal is part of a day’s work. Graham takes a simple whodunit and layers it with strong and complex characters, volumes of research and nerve- stretching tension for a “don’t-read-alone-in-the-dark” tale.

When NYPD detective Jude Crosby sees the bloodied body of a young starlet, he recognizes the scene as the recreation of a Jack the Ripper crime scene. Though he’s not thrilled, Jude finds himself working with the feds, and more specifically, special agent Whitney Tremont, to find a killer before he strikes again. As the two delve deeper into the crime, something more twisted raises its ugly head and, if Jude doesn’t move quickly, Whitney could be its next target. (MIRA, Aug., 384 pp., $7.99)
