Saintcrow certainly doesn't hesitate to put her heroine through the emotional wringer, and current events are about to drive Dante to the edge. This penultimate chapter in Dante Valentine's amazing saga pulls out all of her support structures and leaves her with few options. No one does gritty and perilous paranormal drama better than Saintcrow!

A desperate text message from her best friend back in Saint City leads Dante to postpone her Lucifer-dictated quest to hunt four escaped demons. Dante's worry turns into a thirst for vengeance when she discovers events have turned deadly. Complicating everything is the rift developing with her demon lover Japhrimel, who refuses to divulge all he knows. Japh will do whatever is necessary to protect Dante, even if those actions are a betrayal in her eyes. Saint City is very dangerous at the moment, but what no one realizes is that Dante may be the most dangerous creature of all. (ORBIT, Nov., 400 pp., $6.99)
