Hero Hooper will appeal to many fans of inspirational fiction. He is thoughtful, caring and devout. Surviving his life-threatening illness has only reaffirmed Hooper’s faith in the Lord. Mallie is an equally winning character. She is upbeat and open, welcoming new experiences into her life. However, while both characters put their faith in the Lord, they are also aware that their cancer might return, which adds a bittersweet, yet realistic, aspect to their relationship.

Hooper Martin has battled cancer and won, however the illness and chemotherapy have left him insecure that any woman will ever look at him with anything other than pity. But far from being an invalid, cowboy Hooper is the foreman of his family’s ranch and a single dad. After months of remission and also healing emotionally from a messy divorce, Hooper finally feels strong enough to look for a wife who will also be a mother to his daughter. At his brother’s wedding, Hooper meets the perfect woman. Malia Cameron is smart, beautiful and kind. Mallie is also very brave. She has had her own battle with cancer and although she is physically on the mend, she has emotionally distanced herself from others, scared of giving up her heart only to have her love taken from her. Can Hooper convince Mallie that love is always worth the risk? (WHITE ROSE PUBLISHING, June 2011, dl. $3.99)
