The wild, gritty world of supercross riding provides the perfect setting for McKade’s fast-paced, rough and steamy offering. Her fearless, heartsore heroine presents a mighty challenge for her damaged hero, but these reunited lovers share a passion that can’t be controlled. Though some parts of the story feel a bit rushed and the dialogue is occasionally flowery, the emotions are very real throughout and the connection between the tortured lovers is blisteringly hot — making for an intense reading experience.

Three years ago, Drew Thompson fell for his best friend’s 19-year-old sister, Zoë. Terrified by the depth of their feelings, Drew took a freelance photography job in the Middle East and broke Zoë’s heart. Now, Drew is back. In his absence, Zoë has become a respected supercross/freestyle rider who knows no fear or limits. She lives for speed and danger, hoping to outrun the memories of Drew. It won’t be easy to convince this new Zoë that he wants forever with her, but Drew is determined to catch up to her once and for all. (SAMHAIN, Jan., 200 pp., $14.00)
