Sass Stephens is vacationing in Paris when she runs into Kristopher Chandler, a wealthy photographer and the very man who betrayed her. Realizing his treatment of Sass was wrong, Kristopher looks to repair the damage. Sass plays along and allows him to wine and dine her, but only so that she can give him a taste of his own medicine and then dump him. Of course, she doesn't count on falling in love again.

Sass makes some decisions that demonstrate her feelings of insecurity, and the author does a great job portraying the effects of those choices. Kristopher is the "steady" in the relationship, although it takes Sass awhile to realize it. (Feb., 280 pp., $6.99)
