This heart-wrenching tale is fast paced and thought provoking. The raw emotions are almost painful to read. Scottoline is a master storyteller who imbues her characters with spunk, humor and strength. You won’t be able to put this book down until you are finished.

Rose volunteers at her daughter’s school in hope of defusing some of the merciless teasing that her daughter endures. Her world changes in a moment when an explosion, and resulting fire, rocks the school. Rose is faced with an awful decision — save the girls who were tormenting her daughter or run to find her own trapped daughter. The fire starts a chain of events that ensures that Rose’s world will never be the same again. The condition of the injured children, public reaction and legal actions cause Rose much anguish, but when she starts questioning the cause of the fire Rose discovers an underlying strength. (ST.
