Foster rounds out her searing trilogy with a story that tilts toward the sizzling and sexy side of the genre. It was Alani Rivers’ plight that launched this series, so it is satisfying to see her come into her own as a lead character.

Although he has wanted to get Alani Rivers into his bed, Jackson Savor is confused when he wakes up naked next to her. It is apparent from Alani’s behavior that they have become lovers, but a now-ill Jackson can’t remember anything about the previous day. Alani is initially angry and hurt by his behavior, but soon realizes that he was drugged. But by whom and why? After an attempt to run them off the road fails, Jackson is even more concerned. Does this have to do with Alani’s earlier kidnapping? Danger is circling and Jackson is not about to let it touch Alani again! (HQN, Jul., 384 pp., $7.99)
