Big changes are on tap in the third outing of Butler's gritty and suspenseful Selena McCaffrey series. Powerful yet vulnerable Selena is a dynamite character that you can't ignore. This is an amazing thrill ride by an author at the top of her game!

Former assassin Selena is still adjusting to the new discoveries about her parentage and personal history that she learned during the takedown of her former mentor. While many of the people who wanted Selena dead are now out of action, there's still Damon Long, who escaped from the FBI. A bomb blast in her house that nearly kills Selena's significant other, Tony Ceola, signals a big problem. Damon has placed a half-million dollar contract on Selena's head.

A cat-and-mouse game ensues as Selena and Tony leave town to visit Selena's newly discovered father, a wealthy Southern plantation owner, in an attempt to lose their stalkers. But Damon and his killers aren't far behind. (DELL, Aug., 352 pp., $6.99)
