Eben MacCallister has 60 days to raise $250,000 or he will lose his beloved ranch. A man embittered by a run of bad luck—in life and in love—Eben has shut those he loved out of his world.

That is, until he receives news of his estranged sister's death and finds himself with sole custody of her four orphaned children. Caught in a desperate situation, Eben must turn to Maddie Williams, the woman he once loved and lost. Maddie and the kids teach Eben to open his heart and embrace the giving spirit of the holidays.

Touching and well crafted, SCROOGE WORE SPURS puts a fun twist on an old Christmas story. However, while providing an enjoyable read, Dailey fails to provide a new angle on the "bachelor and the baby" plot to make this novel stand out from the crowd. (Oct., 352 pp., $6.99)
