This sequel to Cross My Heart has some familiar faces as well as some delightful new ones. The growth of the main characters and their learning to deal with past heartaches holds reader interest. This is a story heavy on building relationships with a nice little side of mystery.

It has been eight months since Molly left Daniel and her hometown in search of her biological father. Now she's back on Daniel's doorstep. He's not all that welcoming, especially when he learns the reason she is there: to ask for his help as a lawyer in defending her newly found father from a charge of murder. Daniel does help her and once again becomes emotionally entangled with Molly, as well as her new family. This time, however, he will not make the mistake of hoping for any type of future with her.
