With a surprising amount of heart, Daughtridge makes a familiar story read like new as the icy JJ melts under Davy's charm during a forced marriage. The supporting cast, including one really unattractive dog, makes Daughtridge's latest one for the keeper shelves.

JJ Caruthers will lose her company unless she gets married within a year. The answer to the problem is JJ's one-night stand, Davy, who has just returned to the States. The hunky Navy SEAL was wounded in combat and now has holes in his memory. Although the pair agrees to marry for a year, Davy chases memories of an angel with JJ's face and she tries to run away from her feelings by getting more involved in her company. Will they face up to their true feelings before their time together runs out? (SOURCEBOOKS, Mar., 416 pp., $7.99)
