RT Rating

Perry’s latest mystery is set within the Amish community and centers on the decades-old drown- ing of an Amish teen. With her crisp storytelling, strong suspense and unique, complex characters — both Amish and Englisch — Perry is sure to hook readers in. Add to that combination an intricately woven plot, with several twists, and fans won’t be able to put Search the Dark down.

Detective Zachary Randal returns to his Amish home- town of Deer Run, a place that holds nothing but bad memories. However, when he sees his old love, Meredith King, all of the good memories come flooding back. It is the same for Meredith, who has stayed in town to care for her sick mother but wishes she could leave. To distract herself, she’s been focused on looking into the death of a former friend who drowned. But when another murder occurs, Zach and Meredith are suddenly plunged into a complex web of secrets surrounding her friend’s death that puts them both — and their feelings — to the test.
