This delicious debut is Regency romance at its best — rich narrative, accurate historical details and interesting characters. Romain is definitely an author to watch.

Lord Matheson needs a wife and settles for Miss Louisa Oliver. He is pleased with their match, until he meets her stepsister, the spirited Miss Julia Herington. James is torn between duty and love; to make matters worse, the sisters ask him to find Julia a husband just like him. James and Julia do their best to pretend that nothing is smoldering between them until one late night, where love is revealed and accepted. But before the lovers confess their sin, Louisa surprises them all. (ZEBRA, Oct., 348 pp., $6.99)
