Spinster photographer Venetia Milton agrees to catalog artifacts collected by a centuries-old secret society founded by an alchemist for two reasons: she needs the money and she wants to engineer her own seduction by her employer, Gabriel Jones.

Her plan works to perfection and pleasure, until she learns that Gabriel has died. Venetia then opens a gallery posing as the respeced widow, "Mrs. Jones." Her plans evaporate when a very much alive Gabriel walks into the gallery. She discovers they are bound together by bonds that go beyond the ordinary into the psychic.

With their combined gifts, Gabriel and Venetia hunt for a stolen notebook that will lead them to a thief searching for an ancient formula used to enhance psychic abilities. The pair must stop the madman or the world will face dire consequences.

Quick fans will find exactly what they expect: a delightful couple caught up in a unique mystery that leads to a surprising conclusion. This time Quick has just enough paranormal elements to put a new twist on her formula. This is a fun, fast read that keeps you guessing and your interest piqued. SENSUAL (May, 400 pp., $24.95)
