For the sake of his late brother's children, sculptor Jefferson Aquilon relocates to a small Idaho town. Wary because of prior problems maintaining custody, Jeff's not pleased when social worker Caileen Peters comes calling -- even if she's caring and good at her job. A single mom, Caileen's got kid troubles too, and involvement with Jeff can only compound them. But she's been alone for as long as Jeff has and even propriety can't keep them apart. Laurie Paige begins Canyon Country with Second-Time Lucky (3). Jeff is irresistible, a courageous veteran with an artist's soul, but the other characters aren't nearly as interesting.
