THE SECRET OF CHEROKEE COVE (4.5) by Paula Graves: U.S. Marshal Dana Massey and Bitterwood PD detective Walker Nix are investigating the car crash that nearly killed Dana’s brother, the chief of police. In the process, Dana and Walker uncover facts about Dana’s mother, who fled Bitterwood for Florida when she was very young and then hid her past from her children. A decades-old secret regarding a dead child convinces the pair that their case centers on Dana’s family. Walker knows that once the case is cracked Dana will be going home, but he is still attracted to the tough and sexy marshal with the tender heart. The Bitterwood series gets better with each tale. For a small town, there’s plenty of crime and action in Bitterwood, and Graves’ second installment in the series doesn’t disappoint, neither in action nor in the secrets buried deep in the Smokies.
