THE SECRET LIFE OF A SCANDALOUS DEBUTANTE
by Bronwyn Scott

Genre: Historical Romance, England
Sensuality: HOT
Setting: 1800s England

RT Rating

With its quick pace and adventurous overtones, Scott’s romance keeps readers engaged. However, those seeking depth of characterization over action might wish the novel was longer so this talented writer had more time to explore internal motivations and conflicts.

Beldon Stratton wants to find the ideal, respectable wife to add money to his estate. Lilya Stefanov is not that woman, but the child he knew has grown into an exotic beauty. Behind her proper exterior, Lilya hides dangerous secrets and a scandalous sensuality. For centuries her family has guarded a legendary pink diamond said to bring wealth and power to its owner. Many seek the gem, but only she can protect it from the power-crazed Brotherhood of the Diamond.

Beldon is designated to chaperone Lilya. When he realizes the danger she’s in, he plans for them to wed to throw off the traitor sent to reclaim the diamond. Their marriage is one of passion, not necessity, and as the assassin closes in they risk all to claim their love and the protect the gem. (HARLEQUIN, Sep., 250 pp., $6.25)
