Signet starts off the New Year with rising star Martha Kirkland, whose second book, entitled THE SECRET NABOB (4), represents a significant step forward in her quite promising career. The eldest daughter of a country gentleman must foil her scheming sister's plans to marry off their youngest sibling to the wealthy nabob who has recently inherited the neighboring estate. No one has laid eyes on the mysterious gentleman, but the arrival of a handsome sailor with instructions to renovate the place causes more than enough upheaval in the small community. Ms. Kirkland brings a fresh spirit to a classic plotline to provide stylish entertainment for Regency fans.
