Brie Danzinger returns to her birthplace in Leaning Tree, N.Y., on a mission. She wants the police to reopen the decades-old investigation into her mother's suicide because she believes it was murder. Brie feels her relatives are all hiding a secret, and she's determined to find out if it concerns her mother. When a stalker starts sending her threatening notes, Brie turns to Police Chief Reed Hunter for protection. Reed has secrets too and can't risk getting involved, but their attraction is too strong to resist. The action-packed story careens forward from there as secrets unfold and a murderer is exposed. Secrets of the Wolf (4.5) by Karen Whiddon is a page-turner, full of sensual scenes, mystery and an intriguing touch of the paranormal.
