Showalter is a master at creating dark and enchanting paranormal worlds. In her latest she masterfully combines aliens, vampires and humans into a compelling and entertaining story of lust, deception, intrigue -- and, of course, love.

Devyn de bon ci Laci, Prince of the Targonia Royal House, lives a depraved and lustful life. As an AIR agent, he's free to live as he sees fit, even if that means having sex with
various alien species, humans and vampires. But Bride McKells' energy and disinterest intrigue him. Devyn draws her into his life, only to become smitten with her.

Bride has never known another
vampire, and she's lost her best friend, Aleaha. When she smells her on a passer-by, Bride tracks devastatingly handsome womanizer Devyn, who holds the secret to finding her friend. Determined not to let him get away, Bride falls easily into Devyn's trap, masterfully turning the tables and then falling in love. When the vampires come looking, Bride fears the answers she seeks will mean a choice between the man she loves and a destiny she's sought all her life. (POCKET STAR, Jul., 352 pp., $7.99)
