Married off to the coldhearted Charles by her controlling father, Regina Bradford still dreams of having her novels published. Prince Viktor barely tolerates his faithless wife, Adele. When they meet at a party, Viktor and Regina are immediately attracted to one another—but she would never betray her marriage vows by beginning an affair.

The ton is scandalized when Adele and Charles are discovered together in a compromising situation. When Adele is murdered and Viktor accused of the crime, Regina risks her reputation to save him, claiming he spent the night of the murder with her. As gossip swirls around them, an unknown danger stalks Regina that will test the strength of their love.

Grasso has a gift for creating something special. But despite the intriguing and sophisticated plot, it's occasionally difficult to connect with Regina and Viktor. Greater emotional depth and stronger characterization would have made this more than a good read. SENSUAL (Apr., 380 pp., $5.99)
