One can become addicted to Featherstone’s sexually charged romances. The quick pace and wonderfully dark and dangerous heroes are what readers dream about. Secrets, passions and conflicts abound as readers are led through a labyrinth of plot twists, séances, supernatural revelations, visions and love scenes that take their breath away and leave them panting for more.

As an illegitimate daughter, Isabella Fairmont dreams of a scandal-free life, a passion-free marriage and peace and quiet. She puts her most daring thoughts into the gothic novel she is writing, one in which Death is hero — a dark, sexy and very dangerous hero. Then Death walks in the door in the guise of the very real Earl of Black. One sensual waltz later and Isabella’s dreams of an appropriate marriage to a proper gentleman are dashed.

In truth Black is investigating Isabella’s archeologist fiancé, who may have uncovered information about an ancient, secret organization Black’s family founded. Though she tries to resist Black’s sensual pull Isabella is lost. He is her novel’s hero, the man she yearns to kiss and take to her bed, the man of her visions. But Black cannot reveal the truth of his mission and as treachery and thieves surround them he will protect her with his life. But can he save her from his desire and does she want to be rescued from him? (HQN, Jul., 380 pp., $7.99)
