Book Review

SERENITY
by D. Renee Bagby

Genre: Paranormal/Urban Fantasy

RT Rating

This Gezane Universe novel is an excellent romance between a human and non-human. There's plenty of action, and the heroine is intelligent and mature for her age. The characters are wonderfully created, and the story brings laughter as well as tears. The worldbuilding is quite satisfactory.

To avoid a war, Queen Rhiannon promises her unborn daughter to the long-lived bhresya king, Melchior, as a wife. The day Serenity is born an attempt is made on her life. As she grows, the attempts continue, resulting in her collecting an elite group of bhresya bodyguards. With their variety of skin colors and horns, many humans consider the bhresya
to be demons, but Serenity has been taught all her life to accept, and even love, bhresya. She's disappointed when Melchior seems to reject her after one night of exceptional sex. After another threat to Serenity's life, will Melchior realize how important Serenity is to his, and his country's, well-being?
