Delightfully charming. Calliope Reaper-Jones is hysterical. One can’t help but root for her to get the man, save the world and get her heart’s desire in the process. This character-driven addition to the Reaper-Jones series is truly fantastic.

Calliope Reaper-Jones is Death’s Daughter. Just when she thinks her life is finally getting back to normal all heck, or rather hell, breaks loose. Her sister has teamed up with the devil and orchestrated a revolt. Her dad is dead and she’s supposed to face her new lover in a duel. Faced with the “Ender of Death,” her sister Thalia, and a host of two-faced helpers who can’t be trusted, Calliope strives for normalcy in her suddenly insane life. She never wanted to be Death, and now she’s forced to fight for the job. Can Calliope avoid killing Daniel and restore order to heaven, hell and everything in between? (ACE, Mar., 320 pp., $7.99)
