Roper is a great writer, and her characters are exciting and fresh. This richly told story deftly combines a budding romance with riveting crime drama.
Carrie Carter runs a café in Seaside. She has gotten to know all the locals, but she’s especially sweet on Greg Barnes, a former cop who left his job after losing his family in an explosion. When the dishwasher at Carrie’s café is killed and the waitress goes missing, the cop in him tells Greg it’s someone from his past, and he and Carrie team up to solve the mystery.
