Fans of the successful Crimson series will be delighted to revisit the dangerous city, where vampires, werewolves, humans and demons all vie for supremacy. Four of the original series authors are back and delivering sexy thrills and chills with their enticing novellas.

Series originator Maverick is up first with "A Time to Heal," which pits rogue werewolf Tajo Maddox against the Dumont vampires and their new alliance with East Coast werewolves.

Next is Jewel's outstanding "DX," which tells of the adventures of P.I. Hell Marshall as she takes one last case from the human I-Ops branch in order to get her security clearance back. But taking out a Bak-Faru demon won't be easy, even with help from special forces agent Jaden Lightfeather.

Talented Lee is on tap to provide "School Bites," where human teacher Toni Freedman is accidentally bitten by a werewolf student and finds her life thrown into chaos. The only person keeping a clear head seems to be sexy school principal John Wayne Wong.

Rounding out the thrilling quartet is O'Shea's "Dark Awakening." Kimi Noguchi only recently learned of her family's connection to demons. As far as she's concerned, handsome demon Nic is just her speed -- if she survives being stalked by an evil Bak-Faru. (LOVE SPELL, Jan., 448 pp., $7.99)
