When Jade Ashton washes up on his island in the Red Sea during a storm, Sheik David Rashid's young daughter insists Jade is a mermaid. Jade's memory is affected, but when it returns, she realizes she has a mission that could endanger David, a half-English sheik who's trying to keep rebels from taking over his oil and uranium fields. Will her affection for him win out? A rather old-fashioned, taciturn hero and overly hostile heroine weaken this story, and the sexual interest develops surprisingly quickly. But there's an exciting ending in The Sheik Who Loved Me (3) by Loreth Anne White.
