THE SHEIKH’S DESTINY (4.5) by Olivia Gates: Rashid Aal Monsoori plans to use Laylah Aal Shalaan to ascend the throne of Azmahar, but instead he’s caught in his own web as Laylah’s innocence and warmth melt his heart. Laylah has loved Rashid since she was a child. Always the outsider in her manipulative family, she blossoms in the warmth of Rashid’s attention — until she finds out that she was just a pawn in his plan. Gates is the Queen of the Desert, and proves it by creating another scarred and sexy sheikh who only needs the right woman to save his turbulent soul.

Intense, sensual, romantic

There is such intensity in Olivia Gates books that I always have to psych myself up before reading them. This was no exception!
Rashid is such a tortured hero, who falls so deeply in love despite himself, that he doesn't know quite know how to deal with it. I wanted to wrap my arms around him and tell him it's all going to be alright.
I loved the way Layla, the heroine, was totally honest about her feelings for Rashid. She never fought them even when she thought he had betrayed her to secure his crown , she still accepted that she wanted and needed him even if it was just physically.
It was great to catch up with other characters from this series, like Amjad, Aliyah, Haidar and Jalal and their wives and children.
This was a really touching story and I felt that Rashid was an exceptionally loveable character with all his past experiences and present dilemas.
