RT Rating

Gifted author Johnson delivers a new tale that resides in the same universe as her terrific Sons of Destiny series. She does an outstanding job showing readers the intricacies of the rich cultural heritage of these people. The love story at this novel's heart is warm and tender but also bubbling with passion.

Tava's true abilities are hidden from everyone except her adoptive father. When he's murdered by bandits, she vows to avenge him. But a war band of Shiferai from the Shifting Plains finds the bandits first and eliminates them.

Kodan of the Tiger clan is astonished when he realizes he's seen a female shapeshifter. When the aldermen of the village attempt to make Tava a slave, Kodan strikes a deal. They will take her as partial payment for killing the bandits. Knowing she has few options, Tava agrees. What she doesn't realize is that she's about to discover her true destiny.
