Newcomers to the Berger and Mitry series will find it easy to jump right in with this book, and quickly feel like both characters are old friends. Well paced and cheerfully written, this book has a number of fun perks, including a timely Bernie Madoff character and a prologue from the perspective of the culprit.

There’s a serial flasher on the loose, targeting the wealthy ladies of Dorset, Conn., and police officer Des Mitry is under pressure to catch him. She suspects Augie Donatelli, caretaker to the poshest condominium complex in town, until Augie’s head is bashed in. Since Des was seen exchanging heated words with the victim, she has to find the Dorset Flasher and prove that she didn’t kill Augie. Sounds like she’ll need Mitch Berger’s help.
