Lane’s new novel is sweet with a generous dose of spice as a man discovers his true sexuality and forever love. The book is too light on emotions, so there’s no feeling that either man has much at stake, though the fluffy premise creates a pleasant story for a lazy afternoon.

When Will Lafferty crashes into Kenny Scalia’s trash can, scattering sex toys everywhere, it’s a perfect end to a bad day that included Will being fired and Kenny kicking out his boyfriend. Friendly Will asks snarky Kenny out for a beer to commiserate, and the two quickly discover that they can be friends. As Will explores a gag gift Kenny gives him, all the pieces fall into place: Will realizes he’s gay and he might be in love with his new friend. When he works up the courage to tell Kenny, their relationship goes from friendly to sizzling, but Kenny can’t believe that Will won’t get tired of him. Will Kenny learn to accept Will’s love?
