Thirteen years ago, then police rookie Russ Levoie, who was raised on the Native American Havasupai reservation, went on a domestic violence call and found his best friend Maddie severely beaten by her father. Janina Galvez watched his arrival, already in love with Russ but convinced he only had room in his heart for Maddie. Now Maddie's abusive father has been paroled. Russ, Janina and Maddie are again in danger and caught up in a series of emotional and frightening events. Shotgun Honeymoon (4.5) by Terese Ramin has a strong, distinctive, almost literary voice. The memorable story takes you inside the characters' heads and is well-worth reading.
