SHUNNED AND DANGEROUS
This cozy mystery combines a charming setting with authentic Amish practices. Low-key suspense and a steady pace lead to an ending that seems a bit too neat. The secondary storylines are well developed, but it takes a while to see the full connection.
Claire Weatherly likes puzzles, but solving the murder of Amish dairy farmer Harley Zook is not her typical puzzle. Detective Jakob Fisher, a former Amishman, is leading the investigation. One of the most likely suspects is Jakob’s father, who resented the bond Jakob had with Harley and felt it was responsible for Jakob’s departure from the Amish. Is it possible a member of the Amish — known for their peaceful ways — is seeking revenge and playing God? Jakob wants to prove his father’s innocence with Claire’s help.
