This update of Aristophanes’ Lysistrata is an excellent read. Readers will empathize not just with Lissa, but with all the teens caught between this team rivalry. As in The Duff, Keplinger doesn’t shy away from the topic of teen sex, and presents many sides to the issue.
The Hamilton High football and soccer teams have been rivals forever. But Lissa, the star quarterback’s girlfriend, has had it with the antics that take up her boyfriend’s time. So she unites the girlfriends of the two teams with a single purpose: they will not make out (or more) with their boyfriends until the teams declare a truce. But when sparks begin to fly between Lissa and Cash, the soccer-playing boys’ leader, will she and the rest of the girls be able to convince the guys that there’s more to life than football vs. soccer?
