THE SICILIAN BOSS'S MISTRESS (3) by Penny Jordan: Leonora Thaxton wants to fly for the same airline her brother does, but the owner, Alessandro Leopardi, has continually turned her down because she's a woman. To prove her worth, she convinces her brother to let her substitute for him when he's scheduled to fly Alessandro to Greece. Far from being impressed, he threatens to fire her brother unless she acts as his girlfriend at an important family function. Despite her resistance and his treatment, she's drawn to him. The story works best when the spunky heroine, the modern career woman, acts contrary to what the traditionally-minded hero expects. It makes for some interesting battles until he finally loosens up toward the end.
