Cassandra and Sicilian tycoon Maximos Borsellino have an arrangement: sex
without strings, promises or love. When Cass finds herself in love and
wanting to share more than her body, Max ends their affair as promised.
Although Cass is devastated, she finds something to live for when she
discovers she's pregnant. What happens next sets the stage for an emotional
reunion in which Cass and Max must come to terms with the secrets they have
been keeping if there is to be any possibility of a future. In The
Sicilian's Defiant Mistress
(3), Jane Porter does a good job of weaving a
riveting story around more than a few predictable plot elements. Cass and
Max share a passionate chemistry, but with much of the character development
coming at the end, their story is not as emotionally involving as it could
be if the reader were allowed entry into their hearts a little sooner.
