A SILENCE IN THE HEART
Tracy finds a young boy named Kent holding an injured kitten outside the veterinarian's office where she works. She and Dr. David Braun work on the kitten, and Kent grows to trust them. Tracy discovers that Kent's mother is neglectful, which reminds her of her own childhood and alcoholic mother. In A Silence in the Heart (3), Carolyne Aarsen skillfully depicts romance between Tracy and David, who have both been betrayed by a dysfunctional parent. Some of the foster parenting details are a bit farfetched, but these are only a minor part of an overall enjoyable story.
