Stolen babies, drunken biker dudes, wife beaters, and people with weight problems are just some of the realities of life for Dr. Mercy Richmond and Dr. Lukas Bower in this extremely accurate medical drama. The third in the series, SILENT PLEDGE has Lukas working several hours away in another hospital, after an explosion destroys the E.R. where Mercy works.

Things are complicated enough with the hero and heroine separated, but when Mercys ex-husband turns his life around and wants another chance with her, she struggles with the agonizing decision and doubts her growing love for Lukas. Readers may feel cheated as the author attempted to tackle a hard issue regarding reconciliation and, in this reviewers opinion, missed an opportunity by not resolving it.

Still, the author seems to have a talent for drawing the reader into the story and allowing us to care what happens to each of the characters. (Jan., 352 pp., $10.99)
